[FRIDAY]
It was a bad idea to work out late the night before. I think I had adrenaline rushing through my body throughout the night. I stayed up until around 4ish in the morning. I woke up a few hours later to get ready to hike through Bishop's Peak and sketch with my Landscape Architecture studio class. Our class made a new friend that day, Georgie the cat. It read on his collar that he belonged to someone close to Bishop's and that he enjoyed hiking it too. That was pretty cool.
View from one of the mounds on the way up to Bishop's.
My classmates. They make a boring studio into a fun one.
This area was whimsical, almost Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings sort of vibe.
And the star of the day, Georgie! Looks so sexy in the wilderness, almost as if he belongs there.
After hiking, I went to get some FroYo at Yogurt Creations with Mike, Brittney, Nicole, and Mackenzie. Got some orange sherbet with strawberries, mochi, and yogurt chips. Soooooo good.
Since there was nothing going on in SLO, me and the roommates decided to go to San Francisco for the weekend. We left around 6-7 and got to Ryan's uncle's house at around 9ish. We chilled for the night and prepared for a full day in the city.
[SATURDAY]
At around 8 'o clock in the morning, I woke up to the sound of something cooking in the kitchen, We enter and there's a full breakfast waiting for us. Typical Filipino breakfast: Spam, rice, eggs. We ate til we couldn't eat anymore and were on our way to the City.
On our way to the BART, we saw all these white crosses in remembrance of fallen veterans. I couldn't get all of them into the top picture. As we waited for the BART this gives you an idea of how many crosses there were.
We arrived at in the city, and it wasn't as cold as we anticipated. No complaints though, since usually it's freezing cold. It was no surprise to see that a hint of Filipino culture in the city. Downtown was busy as usual. Not as busy as last time I went. Went to the usual stores, but didn't buy anything.
We arrived at the SFMOMA, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. They had a Henry Matisse exhibition on display, as well as many American modernism artists. I was happy to see the artist I studied for my studio class last quarter, Paul Klee. I think the most interesting part of the museum that day was modern art that utilized other media than paints and such.
After the MOMA, we traveled around the city some more. Our legs were dead tired and we headed back to Lafayette. After some resting time, Tien, Benedicto and I went to watch Notorious. It was an educational movie for me because I didn't really know how Biggie Smalls' life enfolded.
Overall, it was a good weekend, a good time to be away from SLO. Now we're back in Poly Canyon. Everyone went out, and I'm just here blogging and watching the Super Bowl. I'm not really rooting for anyone, but I usually go for the underdog. I'm not looking forward to doing more work later tonight, but it has to be done. Hopefully this week is a good week. I'm looking forward to going home again for Addison's baptism.
Happy Birthday Miguelli.
